This is a white disc shaped pitcher made by the Alamo Pottery Company of San Antonio, Texas.
This pitcher is a creamy white in color and measures approximately 7 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide across the body. It's shape is similar to a Fiesta Disc pitcher but this piece has a series of raised bands that cross the sides.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. It does have a tiny nick on the upper edge on the right hand side about 3/4 off an inch from the open top. It also has a couple of manufacturers imperfections in one side where the under glaze shape is irregular.
The bottom is dry and shows definite wear along with a couple of minor nicks and some indiscriminate dark marks. None of the mentioned issues affect the integrity of the piece. The interior is a little discolored and shows some clay remaining under the glaze at the bottom edge.
This only mark is the number 760 impressed in the bottom of the pitcher.
Alamo Pottery pieces were made from 1945-1951. The glazes developed by the company never crazed and made it very marketable. The company closed in 1951 due to the high cost of storing and shipping. The owners moved to Gilmer, Texas and founded Gilmer Pottery after the closing of Alamo Pottery. Many of the pieces are similar to Alamo pottery pieces and are often mistaken for the same.
