Handsome and rare piece to a child's toy set, identified as a sugar from its match to a toy creamer produced circa 1880's-90's. It is also collected as a covered table salt. This example is in outstanding condition, no chips to the easily chipped pointed meshing teeth on both the bowl and lid. It stands 5 1/2" tall to the top of its finial, which is in a shape suggestive of an acorn. The bowl width at its widest point in the center is about 3". Three mold marks can be noted in the foot.

5000 Open Salts by Heacock and Johnson pictures this in a page of pattern glass master salts, page 171, item 3526.  It is identified there as Amazon pattern by Bryce Bros. and later U.S. Glass.  They note that it was originally made as the sugar bowl to a toy table set; however, it is a desirable addition to a salt collection, used as a covered salt.  The example in H&J shows a finial that has been ground down.
Reilly and Jenks in Early American Pattern Glass picture this exact piece calling it Sawtooth Covered Salt. They offer a string of pattern names and makers, including Bryce's Diamond Point, Gillander's Diamond, and Cambridge's Sawtooth. This pattern is apparently in some confusion as to pattern name. A string of AKA names is also offered in that book.
This example, as noted above, is in wonderful condition. In the second photo, you can see small bumps to the leading edges on the lid, worst one turned to catch light, looks worse than it is. The meshing sharp points surprisingly are in excellent condition. This was apparently never used as a toy or belonged to a very careful child.
