Adorable Chick!
I picked this little chick pitcher up at an estate sale about 6 years ago. When I tried at that time to identify it, I saw lots of folks listing it as Shawnee and McCoy but they could never give a reference. I held on to it and later discovered that it was not a McCoy, as McCoy had never produced a "chick" pitcher.
Now, I have confirmed that it was made by American Bisque in the late 1940's as a children's item for Jewel -T. So, finally the mystery has been solved! It is shown in the American Bisque pottery book. Jewel-T collector's confirm that it is in fact an item made for Jewel - T by American Bisque. So now you know!
This is really a cute litte pitcher. I wish I could say he is perfect, but he does have a tight hairline on his opening. This flaw really doesn't affect the display quality of this darling chick pitcher. He would be perfect to add to your vintage Easter decorations!
He is highlighted with 22K gold, and is off white and yellow. Very handsome!
He stands 6 5/8" high, and weighs 1.07 pounds prior to packaging for shipping.
