The design on the plate features 2 deer or elk in the foreground and a smaller herd in the background. The setting appears to be high in the mountains of Bavaria.
Produced bu Johann Seltmann, this plate marked Bayreuth Bavaria, was probably produced in the 1st quarter of the 20th century. Seltmann's Porzellanfabrik Johann Seltmann began business in 1901 in the town of Schlottendorf, so it doesn't date before that time and this type of plate was "out of style" by World War II.
It isn't hand painted, the decoration is applied with a decal.. The edge of the plate is scalloped and enhanced with a gold band
It is in excellent condition with no damage. There are no chips cracks or nicks. The gold is 99 % intact. There is some wear to the back of the plate, but that should be expected given it's age. There is some light scratching or rub marks along the upper edge of the decal as if there was a plate that was place on the surface and it rubbed a little in storage.
It is marked with a black oval that contains a crown and the words Bayreuth Bavaria printed in yellow, the name Germany is found outside the logo.
Dimensions(s): It measures about 11 1/2" in diameter
