Doyle & Co made this mug in the 1870’s. The pressed decoration is the Grape and Festoon portion of the name. The Shield part was left blank so the child’s name could be engraved in it. The detail is very nice. It is 2 1/2" X 2 1/2". There is a sharp mold ling on the outside of the rim which over the last 140 years has accumulated nibbles. There is also a flake on the foot.
All of my items are used and will show some signs of our ancestor’s normal use. This is not damage like a chip or a crack. If use marks, in my opinion, are unusually noticeable I will comment on it.
