George A. Duncan & Sons called this pattern No 555 while today’s collectors use the descriptive name Shell and Tassel. This is the square version with clear corner shells. This footed sauce is 4” by 4” and 1 ¾” high. There are some nibbles on the underside of the foot and some excess glass at the mold lines at the rim. This was designed by August Heisey the future founder of Heisey Glass Co. All of my items are used and will show some signs of our ancestor’s normal use. This is not damage like a chip or a crack. If use marks, in my opinion, are unusually noticeable I will comment on it.
