I am offering an Oklahoma Diamond Jubilee wall plate. This would be perfect as a go-together with your Prairie Green collection of Frankoma too!
This plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or hairlines.
Made in 1982 to celebrate the 75th Birthday of the State of Oklahoma. The then Governor of Oklahoma, George Nigh, signed the mold for this commemorative plate. Governor Nigh, a Democrat, was the only Governor of the State of Oklahoma to hold the elected office twice, he won his re-election by winning in all counties.
The plate depicts, Tulsa Church, Pioneer Women, Industry, Will Rogers, Home of Red Man, Sooner State, Cattle, Land of Lakes, and the State Capital.
On the back is written:
1907 - DIAMOND JUBILEE- 1982
YOU'RE DOIN' FINE. OKLAHOMA!
OKLAHOMA
THE SOONER STATE
CAPITAL: OKLAHOMA CITY
STATE FLOWER: MISTELTOE
STATE TREE: REDBUD
STATE BIRD
SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER
GEORGE NIGH
GOVERNOR
MADY BY FRANKOMA IN OKLAHOMA
OKIDJ
The plate is 8 3/8" across. The string on the back seems to be original and if you are going to hang this plate I strongly urge replacing it with newer string. There are two holes for hanging.
