Rare Goebel Item
This unique Mid-Century styled Goebel vase would make an excellent addition to any decor. The interior of the small neck is shaded oxblood red, with dark brown specks blending into the red. The exterior of the neck is speckled dark brown and blends into a taupe color with wisps of cream. The ball shaped body is slightly ribbed from the neck to the bottom base. About 1" from the bottom the vase is again shaded in the dark brown speckles. The oxblood red is deeper and darker than the pictures indicate.
This is a great find and an item that I'm sure would be welcome right along with your other fine pottery and porcelain items.
In the last picture you can see the Wide Crown Goebel mark, known as TMK-1. This is incised or slightly raised in the bottom base and difficult to capture in a photograph. In addition the vase is incised with: VG 16/3. I have been unable to determine what that lettering and numbering system might indicate or mean.
I do detect light crazing on the underside base. There is staining on the interior, but this does not affect the display quality or integrity of this marvelous vase.
Not only is this gorgeous, but I'm pretty certain it is and item not readily found, so it will be an item that you can enjoy adding to your collection.
The vase is a mere 4 1/4" tall x a circumference of 14 3/4".
