Stunning Italian Art Glass!
This 22 1/4" beauty is indicative of popular art glass from the '60's and is going to be the perfect addition to your art glass collection. This does not retain a label and is not marked. However, I have seen this bottle with various Guildcraft, Italy labels. This is the first charcoal bottle that I have seen in this design. The glass when reflecting the light is green but is so dark that I thought it was gray or black glass at first. As you can see from the photographs, the glass does appear to be more black than green, so it is deceptive in its coloring.
The only issue I might mention is roughness to the mold line on the stopper. This happens when the mold line is not trimmed of excessive glass residue at the time of manufacture. This does not affect the integrity or display quality of this wonderful decanter/bottle.
I am inclined to say that this decanter, in this color, is somewhat rare or at least difficult to find. I purchased this at auction last summer and have yet to find another one in this unique color and I'm sure it will coordinate well with your retro decor and be a pleasing addition to your glass collection. I'm not sure if originally the stopper neck might have had a cork on it or not.
I believe you will find this and extraordinary piece of Italian Art Glass and will enjoy adding it to your collection.
