Here for your consideration is a small Ruby Stained pitcher or creamer, made by Heisey Glass, in the Cut Block pattern. It measures 3 1/8" tall by 1 5/8" wide at the base.
It has in inscription that reads Nellie Proudfit 1998 Omaha. When I purchased this I was told it was a most unique piece because the engraved name was Native American or American Indian. However, after doing some research I have discovered that this is probably not the case and that Proudfit is a name which can be found throughout the US and includes a General in the Civil War; it is thought to be of Scottish origin. I was not able to identify Nellie Proudfit but did trace the name back to Nebraska in the later 1800's.
However, having said all that. This is a very nice piece of Souvenir glass. The pattern is one which is not commonly found. It is listed in McCain and in the Heacock books relating to pattern glass.
It is in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks or nicks. There is no scratching and only very light wear to the base. I would estimate the ruby stain to be 99.5% intact. There is a small area of white along the base that I believe is residue in the glass. There are a couple of small bubbles as well.
