Here for your consideration is a large Mallard Duck Planter or flower arranger.
This piece measures 11 1/4" high at the upper wing and 10" across from wing tip to tip.
It is not marked.
The bottom is a creamy clay that has a high gloss finish to it as does the rest of the piece.
This Mallard Drake is all set to take wing from a spot in the marsh. The base of the piece has been painted to resemble the plants found along the edge of a marsh or lake. These were frequently found on the top of the console TV in the 50's and 60's with artificial greenery included; it is long gone.
The base has a series of 3 openings with the largest on the right as you face the piece. These were intended to hold flowers with this piece being used for a centerpiece. It would make a great accent piece for that fall dinner or table.
This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or nicks. It has no crazing and there are no repairs. The white spots are flash high lights. It does appear to be an older piece and I suspect it dates to the 1950's. It may be a little older or perhaps a little newer but it fits well into the 50's and 60's decorative styles.
