Here for your consideration is a lovely one piece Mayonnaise with the attached underplate. It is marked with the Nippon Rising Sun mark in Blue.
This mark is an accepted Noritake Mark that dates roughly from 1890 to the early 1920's.
The decoration consists of brilliant cobalt blue ribbons and pink roses each accented with gold. While not encrusted with gold this piece does have quite a bit of gold accenting to it.
It measures approximately 6 3/4" across the base portion and 4 1/4" across the top of the dish. It is about 2 1/4" tall.
I find no chips, cracks or nicks. There is no crazing and there are no major scratches. There is wear to the bottom of the piece where it would rest on the table or shelf.
There is wear to the gold rim that encircles the edge of both the upper dish and lower plate, but the remainder of the gold is intact and in very good condition.
