Beautiful Scroll & Trellis Design
This is a gorgeous old Art Nouveau Syracuse China Co. circa 1912 domed butter dish!
For your pleasure, we are offering a domed butter dish in a variant of Syracuse pattern#52506. We find mention of pattern #52506 in a catalog by L. Barth & Sons, a New York distributor during the late 1900s. Pattern 52506 has the same green scroll and trellis design as this pattern. It is an intricate scroll that flows around the rim of the body both on the dish and cover.
We have many pieces of this pattern and some items are marked with the embossed diamond mark with the numeral two inside and some are not. In some of the items there is just a partial embossed diamond, and we are assuming that is a manufacture only issue and nothing related to usage.
We are unsure of the shape of this pattern, but it is lovely china and this piece will make a trendy addition to your vintage table setting! Please, bookmark us and come back to view the additional pieces we will be offering in this pattern. We have the cream and sugar, serving bowls, covered vegetable, covered gravy with attached liner, and various sized plates. If we haven't listed the other items mentioned and you are interested, please, let us know!
The butter dish and domed lid are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. The only issue I detect is loss to the gold trim. The dish is 7 inches across and 1 inch tall. With the lid it is about 4 1/2" tall.
This would certainly be a charming addition to any antique Mix-'N-Match dinnerware collection!
