Pigeon Forge Pottery, located in Pigeon Forge, TN, was a small locally run operation that was in business from roughly 1946 - 1999. The pottery was made from native red and gray clays found locally. Glazes were developed using native ores and wood ash, giving the pottery an unusual depth to the color and a unique quality.
This pitcher shaped pair of wall pockets or vases is found in one of Pigeon Forge's most familiar patterns, Dogwood. All pieces produced at Pigeon Forge were either hand thrown on a potters wheel or cast and freehand decorated. These were cast and decorated by the hand of one of the talented local artists that were employed at Pigeon Forge. You will note that the decorations are similar but not identical.
This pair of wall pockets would make a great addition to any collection of wall pockets of Pigeon Forge pottery. While not rare they are not commonly found.
