This is a wonderful and historical Majolica pitcher, featuring an image of President Ulysses S. Grant in a green laurel wreath on both sides, and a textured border on the rim and on the base.
We are hosting a number of antique Majolica pieces from a large Baltimore collection. Some will include their past sales receipts and histories as noted by the antique dealers who sold them.
Dimensions: The pitcher stands 9 3/4" tall with a 4 1/2" opening.
Marks/Dates: c. 1880's. Unmarked on the bottom.
Condition: There is light crazing as you would expect in a piece this old, and the tip of Mr. Grant's nose is discolored.
Most Victorian-era majolica have not survived their 100+ years without imperfections, including discoloration, crazing, small chips, and hairlines. We will note these to the best of our ability, but please ask for additional photos, if you are unclear on their condition.
