This ironstone toby jug of Mr. Samuel Pickwick, a character in Charles Dickens' novel, "The Pickwick Papers," was hand crafted and hand painted in wonderful detail by E.T. Bailey.
Dimensions: Measures 5 1/4" tall on a 3" x 3 1/4" base.
Marks/Dates: c. 1960. Burgess & Leigh "Burleigh Ware" green stamp on the bottom, along with an impressed, "Mr Pickwick," and, along the rim, "E.T. Bailey." There is another word that is just too faint to decipher.
