This is a Purinton Honey Jug in the Petals Pattern.
It measures 6 1/2" tall and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, nicks or crazing and it has no repairs.
It is not marked but can be seen pictured on page 169 of Susan Morris' Purinton Pottery, 1994.
Purinton Pottery is said to be extremely light weight for the size but very versatile and sturdy. Probably made in Shippenville, Pennsylvania, this little jug is truly a piece of Americana.
Petals was probably produced in the mid 1950's for the Sears Roebuck Company. The unique pottery pitcher, with its one piece construction, was used to hold honey and was called the honey jug. It was originally a container used as a company premium in its initial production
