This is a lovely console bowl in a Mid Century Modern form made by the Roselane Pottery Company. Roselane Pottery was operated by Bill (William) Fields, originally in Pasadena, California and later in Baldwin Park, Ca. It was in operation under Fields ownership from 1938 to 1974, when it was sold. It closed its' doors in 1977.
This bowl is a very modern shape. It measures 14" long and 5 1/2" wide. It is 4" tall at the highest point. The exterior is a soft cocoa brown shade with a matte finish. The interior glaze is glossy and is a lighter shade of brown, not quite taupe and to dark for tan or beige. It's almost a milk chocolate color. This shape swoops up and out differing in height and width at varying points.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or nicks. There is no crazing and there are not repairs. The piece is very thin walled which allows a delicate flow of shape and form. There is a little wear on each end and on the bottom perhaps from rubbing against something or perhaps from use, but it does not affect the integrity of the piece. The bottom is marked Roselane Pasadena, Calif A14.
