Royal Bayreuth Bavaria Plates Roses Forget Me Nots
Here for your consideration are a pair of salad plates from Royal Bayreuth. The decoration is quite simple, and consists of a swag with a single rose gathered at the rim with a cluster of forget me nots. There is a narrow band that encircles that consists of a narrow scroll with yellow dots in the center of each scroll. Replacements has not identified the pattern other than to call it ROB183. They describe it as a swag with roses and blue flowers at the rim.
The plates measure 7 5/8" across and date I believe to the mid 1930's. This mark was used from 1919 to the approximately 1945.
The condition is good to very good. There are a couple of tiny nicks to the unglazed rim on the bottom but they are old and very smooth. There is no crazing. There are no chips or cracks and the surface scratching while present is not heavy. There are a couple of small areas where the plates resting on one another have caused some wear to the glaze.
