This 3-handled, loving cup-shaped toothpick holder has a ruby stain with gold painted handles and trim, on a crystal pedestal base. The front features a hand painted enamel flower
decoration and the words "The Ritz - Brooklyn" in gold script.
The Ritz was a movie theater in Brooklyn that opened in 1926. This was either a premium given at the opening (because it's engraved), or one of the giveaways that theaters offered "back in
the day" like dinner plates and depression glassware.
Dimensions: The toothpick measures 3 1/4" high with a 1 7/8" diameter.
Marks/Dates: U.S. Glass. c. 1900-1920's. Shown on page 201 of Bredehoft & Sanford's Glass Toothpick Holders, Second Edition.
Condition: No chips or cracks to the glass. There is some wear to the gold, and you can see a bump or pimple in the glass rim just above "The Ritz" where the gold has worn.
Vintage glass may show characteristics of age, including allowable base wear, bubbles, pattern irregularities, straw marks (inclusions/cooling marks) or mold marks.
